No blogpost since November 2015?! Okay so let me tell you everything.. Now I work in retail which means Christmas is busy it's hectic and crazy so I already decided that I probably wouldn't be blogging that much I'd probably show you some little things that I've picked up for people and maybe a gift guide, I had it all planned. On December 22nd my life changed, it was a normal day at work when my Dad came into the shop which isn't unusual but he told me that my Nan had be taken to hospital, obviously I left work and headed straight to the hospital. I live with my Dad and Nan if you didn't know so she is a huge part of my life and she's more of a mother to me rather than a Nan. We was all told that it was a mild stroke which was a huge shock. I'm not going to say anything more about details and what happened because it is very personal. I returned to work for the boxing day sale and I managed to do my whole shift the rest of the days are a blur to be honest. On 2nd of January we lost my Nan due to a major stroke which has turned my life upside down, you mentally prepare for these things but no matter how much you prepare it hits you like a ton of bricks. I will be back to blogging as my beautiful Nan bought me a camera before we lost her. *If you are a brand waiting on a blogpost then I'll be getting round to doing it as soon as possible* If you read my holiday update you'll know I've recently been on holiday and I did plan to do more updates but I was blogging from an iPhone with rubbish wifi so it was difficult. Today I'm going to be talking about the two books I read and finished before my holiday even finished (This may contain spoilers) I loved both of these books and the fact that they are both now films is even better. First of all Gone Girl, I started reading this and found it really confusing so I restarted it and I was hooked I could not put it down but I didn't want to finish it. Nick Dunne is one of the main characters and he is just an average type of guy with what you think is an average wife Amy, Amy then goes missing and fingers all get pointed to him as blood is found in his house and she has a diary written about all the abuse he put her through. It's such a clever book and I think Gillian Flynn thought up such a brilliant idea and got everything perfect. Out of the two I preferred this book as soon as I got back from my holiday I decided I had to see the film and it was only £5 from Morrisons bargain! Anyway do not watch this film with your parents there is a lot of disturbing scenes and sex scenes I mean if your parents are cool then go for it but just a warning. I couldn't rate this book any higher if I tried it's definitely a good mystery messed up love story. I really wish I could tell you the whole story but I don't want to ruin it, Also another bonus with this book was that when I finished it had the first chapter of another one of Gillian's books 'Dark Places' which I think I'll pick up when I see it. Now on to Paper Towns, I don't know if it was just me but I just didn't get it, I only picked up this book because I've read probably like everybody else 'The Fault In Our Stars' which was amazing and I'd read that on a previous holiday but this book was just pointless it was about a girl that had gone missing left loads of clues but never really wanted to be found. It has a lot to do with poetry so I'm not sure if I'm missing something? I think when I see the film it will make a lot more sense as I just don't quite understand it very well, although I might give it another go or read some peoples theories to see if they understood it. I'm sorry about the rubbish review on this I just didn't understand it, help?! Anyway if you haven't guessed I'm back off holiday and I will be back to regular blogging as I have missed it. I'm usually one of those people who starts something does it for a bit then forgets about it but this is something I've kept going and I'm still growing. I have 76 followers on Bloglovin' Which I never expected and to some it's not many but knowing that at least 76 of you read my blog is enough for me to keep it going.
Want to read my first ever post? http://drugstorejunkie.weebly.com/drugstore-junkie/archives/04-2015/2 Those were my first ever posts on here when it was strictly beauty but I really want to blog about other things now ,outfits, dates etc. If you started at the beginning with me then thank you for staying with me! I love reading all your comments and love reading all your blogs<3 Also make sure you follow my brand new facebook page over at facebook.com/drugstorejunkie I'm doing a MAC lipstick giveaway of your choice. Follow me at bloglovin to keep up-to date with all my new posts - https://www.bloglovin.com/blogs/drugstore-junkie-blog-13992724 This isn't my usual blog post but I think it will be an important one. Oh and to the random boy who's probably reading this hoping for some bra pictures you are in the wrong place, sorry. I always see statistics saying '80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size' I'd think to myself how can people get this wrong you can tell if a bra fits or not can't you? Well I went to London with my boyfriend for his 21st and I've always wanted to go to Victoria's Secret as I'm always looking online but I'd hate to pay the £30 shipping rates. I visited VS on Bond Street in London which I think is a flagship store or it should be anyway, It was amazing it was like being in a designer bedroom the stairs all had clear crystals as rails it honestly was amazing. I wanted to go to the PINK range as that's what I liked, a lady overheard me and sent me downstairs to the PINK range, I spent ages and ages looking for a bra that I'd seen online and found out it had gone into the sale so I found the new collection which was pretty much the same the lady showed me all the different types and asked if I'd been measured and I saw no. She introduced me to a girl called Amanda who was lovely and she took me into the fitting room asked me what size I was wearing and what styles I liked. I told her that I was wearing a 34B it was a old bra and I think I bought it because I needed a black bra she measured me up and said I was a 29 band but the smallest they do in store is a 32 and cup size she put me at a D so 32D I almost burst out laughing me a 32D? She bought me a nude coloured beige body bra and I tried it and it fit. I rang the little doorbell which they have in the fitting rooms so you can change in private and said it was perfect she offered to get me some more styles but I refused as I'd left my poor boyfriend outside on his own probably feeling a bit awkward. She gave me a little card with all the information I'd need, You can see I tried on the 'Body by Victoria' in a 32D and it fit perfectly. I picked up the one I wanted and found the matching knickers and went to pay feeling £40 down I couldn't quite believe I'd worn a bra two cup sizes smaller for a good 7/8 years of my life how could I get it so so wrong? So girls before thinking those statistic's are wrong go get measured. The only thing now is I can't quite get my head around D cup boobs you think they are going to be really big but they get bigger by the band size because the cups are bigger so a 36D is going to be alot bigger than a 32D even though they are called a 'D cup'. VS get slated alot for sizing people wrong as I believe they only sell from A-DDD so alot of stores have been slated for sizing people wrong so they buy their bra's from them. That's enough talk about boobs for one day! Also make sure you follow my brand new facebook page over at facebook.com/drugstorejunkie I'm doing a MAC lipstick giveaway of your choice. Follow me at bloglovin to keep up-to date with all my new posts - https://www.bloglovin.com/blogs/drugstore-junkie-blog-13992724 This isn't my usual post but everybody nowadays seems to be watching Netflix or talking about it and I see so many people asking about what good to watch on it. I think Netflix is such a great idea that somebody had and hasn't charged us a fortune for it also the kids section, well if you're a 90s kid have look. I thought I'd share my favourite series as Saturday is my netflix day and I usually spend longer searching for things to watch rather than actually watching it.. 1. Pretty Little Liars (PLL) This was probably where my Netflix addiction started I was sat around my boyfriend's whilst he was at work and I wanted something to keep me busy and hopefully kill some time. I found this and a rough summary is a girl goes missing one night and the other girls recieve texts from somebody who knows all their secrets. I don't want to tell you too much as its worth watching and the whole PLL fandom is great but don't go on twitter as the mystery has been kinda solved we solved one part but as you'll see with PLL nothings ever straight forward. You'll have one question answered and you'll have hundreds more besides did I mention hot guys? 2. Orange Is The New Black (OITNB) This is probably the most hyped up series on Netflix as it is a Netflix orginal. My boyfriend and I watched this together so its defiantly one for both genders plus lots of naked girls. Its basically a regualr girl who gets sent to prison for drug smuggling which happened a few years ago, again I don't want to give too much away because you may watch it but I cannot wait until another season. This isn't something you want to watch with your parents around unless you have super cool parents who don't make you feel awkard when watching a lesbian sex shower scene. This has got many stories in it and you really learn about all the different characters its not porn I promise. 3. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt This is another Netflix orginal and this was advertised all over Netflix. The sad thing about this is there is only one season *sobs*, It's super easy to watch and such good comedy I watched this one again with my boyfriend and as every episode is only half hour it won't take you long to get through it and you'll soon be googling dates for the next series. This one is about a girl (Kimmy) who is trapped underground for 15 years because a Reverand told them the world would suffer from a nuclear explosion meanning they'd be safe down there so this her life as she gets out. Also the theme tune is brilliant! 4. The Vampire Diaries Okay so I haven't actually watched this one... yet. I've heard loads about it and my boyfriend watches it so I've seen bits and I think its his second time around watching it. This is about a vampire who goes back to where he's born and raised 600 years later (roughly don't quote me) he then falls in love with a girl and his brother comes into this mix making it a huge love triangle. Sorry if that was brief my boyfriend is a man of many words when he has his xbox controller in his hand. 5. Once Upon A Time
I won't lie with this one I've kinda forgotten about it.. This is about 6 seasons long and they are all about an hour and its a very complicated storyline. From what I've watched so far its about a boy who believes that everybody in his town is a fairytale character and obviously nobody believes him but when his real mum comes back on the scene shes the only one who starts to believe him. I really want to get back into this and I will. So thats my top 5 series at the moment let me know if you start any of them! So another reason why I've been absent from my blog is that I've been camping with no wifi which means no blogpost :(
So here I am bringing you a mixture of lists, advice and tips if you are going to festivals or just camping.. 1. Make lists - Make these in advance as soon as you think that would be good to take with you add it to the list, I tend to use the 'Notes' section on my phone. 2. Personal Hygiene - Stack up on baby wipes and hand sanitizer plus loo roll if you are going to festival but make sure you hide it as everybody will want some when the toilets have run out. Don't take perfume it may break or you may lose it instead take body spritz and body sprays it won't last as long but at least you won't lose your lovely perfume. 3. Entertainment- This depends if you are camping or going to a festival because at a festival you shouldn't need entertainment but plain camping can sometimes be a bit boring. Before I went camping I went and bought loads of DVDs to watch on my laptop as had electric so obviously I could charge it. If you don't have electric you could try board games, magazine, books basically pens and paper like the good old days. 4. Pack for all weather - I had more waterproof clothes that summer clothes, I'd recommend at least a waterproof jacket and wellies. I only took one pair of shorts because even though it looks like shorts weather it gets very cold at night. Me and my boyfriend also took onesies because they are handy in the evennings and if you need a wee in the middle of the night the last thing you want to do is put on skinny jeans. Always pack more clothes as they may get muddy or you may spill something and it's a good idea to take a few carrier bags for wet or dirty clothes. 5. Take Cash - I wouldn't recommend taking a card as cash machines run out of money pretty quick and most stalls or food stalls won't accept card anyway. Always remember to hide your cash if you have no where to put it then keep it on you as people will look in tents. 6. Remember Small Things - If you will be cooking or making tea remember things like cutlery and a teaspoon, salt and pepper, flasks or mugs. Then for washing up cloths and washing up liquid. There is so many things you can forget when camping so you should always pack way before you are about to go as it will give you more time to throw things in you might forget. 7. Fashion - Some of you will be laughing as I write this but we all want to look good whilst camping right? Two things I can recommend is sunglasses and hair braids. You can hide behind sunglasses if you are looking tired and everybody loves cute braids and if they get a bit messy then they look even better Advice. - Make a meeting point so if anybody gets spilts up from the crowd and has no way to communicate they know where to meet you again. - Make sure you know many people can fit in your tent as when a tent says 4 man it usually means no luggage so 4 people would be more comfy in a 6man tent also make sure your tent can fit on one pitch otherwise you might need two. - Do your research find out how many people go to festivals or campsite read the complaints and you'll get a better feel for what you'll need. - Always take torches and lights as you don't want to drain your phone battery finding your way back to the tent. - Pitch your tent near some toilets so you don't have to walk far but not too close as they may smell or you might have a lot of sound throughout the night. - Arrive early so you have plenty of time to set up the last thing you want to do is pitch up right next to a public walk way ust because it's the last place left. - Take a first aid kit incase somebody gets hurt because first aid tents are usually busy at festivals thanks to people who can't handle drink. - Don't make a fire unless you know what you are doing. I hope this has helped somebody out there, its impossible to write down everything as some people have tents, caravans some have electric and some don't if you can get electric its worth the extra money. Thanks for reading. Katy xox As promised I thought I'd tell you why I chose this outfit as my birthday outfit and all the details! I wanted something different to what I usually wear as I just wear jeans, crop top and flats. I wanted something really girly and as I work with most of my friends they see me in a purple polo top and jeans everyday so I wanted them to be like 'wow' so this is what I went for..
I'm 20 and it's scary, I think by this age there is so much pressure to settle down and do what you want in life. Meanwhile I'm still deciding what to eat next, but anyway I turned 20 last week on Thursday but I actually had my presents off my boyfriends family on the Wednesday as they were all working late the next day. I got spoiled rotten and my main present off my boyfriend was the brand new Pandora Rose Bracelet with two little charms...
These are some photo's from my birthday night out we all went clubbing, I'm not going to talk through my outfit too much as I want to do another post about that and give you all links from where you can buy it. If you know me personally you know that I'd don't usually dress up like this I'm more of crop top and jeans sort of girls mainly because I'm lazy and don't like fake tanning all my legs etc.. When we got to the club I got a free bottle of champayne which I was so happy about and they gave me a birthday badge and free entry, I did get rather drunk but it was my birthday so I'm allowed right? I honestly wish I could go back and relive this night because I loved every minute and I wouldn't change a thing apart from less stressing about getting everybody on the minibus before hand.
I hope you liked this post as I thought I'd give you a look into my personal life as I don't want my blog to be strictly beauty because it's not just what I'm about. Feel free to leave any comments and I'll reply as soon as I can. Thank you for reading! Katy xox I am not a expert at this sort of thing at all I'm just offering my own personal advice. Above you can see me and my boyfriend and we have been together for overall nearly 3 and a half years we met when I was 16 and I'm now 19 and this is the third time we've been together so we have not had it perfect at all far from it, but to me the best times are perfect. When we spilt we both saw other people but both came back to eachother and I know he's 'the one' for me but we know what went wrong each time so I'm going to tell you how to keep a relationship happy. 1. Always say good morning or goodnight. I don't know if every couple does this but me and Tommy always do unless he falls asleep and forgets, to me when he texts me in the morning he's basically saying I'm here for you and I'm the first thing he's thought of in the morning. I always think it's good to say goodnight because I know he's home and going to sleep so it stops me worrying all night, yes I'm one of those girlfriends who imagines the worst. 2. Date nights. Tommy and I both work sometimes different days and the same days and sometimes I only see him in the evenings so it's the best time to go for dinner or even just a McDonald's we take it in turn to pay depending on each others pay. Sometimes we have no plans and they turn out to be the best days we end up all kinds of places but aslong as we're together who cares. 3. Spend time apart with family or friends. I adore Tommy's family as much as my own so I don't mind him going out when I'm over at his house in fact I love it I can watch what I want on Netflix and chat away to his mum. Its so important for your other half to spend time with friends because they'll appreciate coming home and seeing you after they've had to sort a drunk mate. 4. Arguments are okay. Not too much but it's healthy sometimes me and Tommy will shout at eachother then calm down and talk it out or sometimes he'll do something and I'll find it hilarious and we both just laugh. 5. Past is the past. The main problem we have is this because we were with other people it messes up the present so my main point is forget about it you have them now for a reason and that's all that matters. Don't think about it don't focus on it. 6. Do little things. Sometimes I'll buy Tommy food or if I see something I know he'll love I'll get it for him just as a little thought and he does the same he recently bought me the Real Techniques Core Collection make up brushes because he knew how much I'd been looking for them. I could of told you loads more top tips but I don't want to bore you, I'm sorry I've come away from beauty at the moment I promise I'll have a review up of a certain product tomorrow! Katy. xox This isn't a usual thing I post about but who knows you might be in the same position as me as we don't always do the most glamourous of jobs, I'm not going to go into too much detail but I do quite a 'manly' job moving pallets using a pum truck etc.. And last week I got told that I need steel toe cap boots my first thought what oh god no. Now my company do provide free ones but I wasn't that keen on them as they were dark green and I already have a purple polo so I spoke to my manager and asked about buying my own ones, after searching the Amazon and Ebay I found some that I love..
I hope this has helped some of you who don't have glamourous jobs or just feel a bit dull at work I sometimes do :( If you decide to go for any of these idea's let me know in the comment section or if you have anything else which makes you feel a bit more girly then let me know I'd love to hear it! Thanks for reading. Katy xox |
