Since I've needed major retail therapy recently I've bought a lot of stuff and spent a lot of money I probably didn't need too but it felt good in the moment right?..
Anyway on with the blogpost, I picked up these OGX shampoo and conditioner as I've been using natural coconut oil on my hair when I get a day free but it is a hassle to do as it takes so long to rinse out so I wanted something quick and easy for when I don't have time to do it. The main reason I picked up this brand was because it also contains 'whipped egg white protein' which is also amazing for your hair. OGX is a brand I've never really heard of before buying these but after having a nosey on their website they literally have a hair product for whatever you want and I'm really excited to try some more. Also OGX products do not contain Sodium Laureth Sulfate or Sodium Laurel Sulfate and they are paraben free so they are really natural products. They also do not test on animals which is good to know. This retails in Boots at £6.99 for each bottle which is quite expensive for a shampoo and conditioner but they had an offer on for '2 for £10' which I don't think is too bad for a good quality shampoo and conditioner. These bottle also hold 385ml of product which is a lot more than a standard bottle of shampoo so you do get you pay for. Thank you for reading! No blogpost since November 2015?! Okay so let me tell you everything.. Now I work in retail which means Christmas is busy it's hectic and crazy so I already decided that I probably wouldn't be blogging that much I'd probably show you some little things that I've picked up for people and maybe a gift guide, I had it all planned. On December 22nd my life changed, it was a normal day at work when my Dad came into the shop which isn't unusual but he told me that my Nan had be taken to hospital, obviously I left work and headed straight to the hospital. I live with my Dad and Nan if you didn't know so she is a huge part of my life and she's more of a mother to me rather than a Nan. We was all told that it was a mild stroke which was a huge shock. I'm not going to say anything more about details and what happened because it is very personal. I returned to work for the boxing day sale and I managed to do my whole shift the rest of the days are a blur to be honest. On 2nd of January we lost my Nan due to a major stroke which has turned my life upside down, you mentally prepare for these things but no matter how much you prepare it hits you like a ton of bricks. I will be back to blogging as my beautiful Nan bought me a camera before we lost her. *If you are a brand waiting on a blogpost then I'll be getting round to doing it as soon as possible* Since Christmas is around the corner and all my make up is running out all at the same time I decided it's time to stop spending £25 on MAC Studio Fix foundation and find something similar for a cheaper price. Plus ruining a 'drugstore' blog I always like to bring you something that's like the real thing on here. I've tried many foundations but one that's always caught my eye but never tried was the Maybelline FIT ME range. I love love love the packaging probably more than MAC as this is so simple and sleek and looks professional yet it's less than half the price of MAC it retails at £7.99 and the powder is just behind it at £5.99. Don't get me wrong I love MAC but I always believe there's something cheaper that's just as good as it on the market. The main reason I didn't turn back to MAC was the price and the fact I don't have one near me meaning I have to order online and pay the postage so it becomes more of a £25 foundation. I honestly believe this foundation and Mac are so alike the only downside to it is there isn't many colours to choose from while MAC has loads. The powder comes with a little mirror and round sponge although I always apply with a brush it's handy on a night out if you want to top it up and you haven't got a brush. The coverage I'd say is either a medium to full as you can layer it up to make it a completely flawless look but if you don't it still looks completely natural. It applies well and I think it goes a lot further then MAC and blends a lot easier as I find MAC quite thick. You don't even have to have the powder as the foundation does have a slight dewy finish but you can mattify it by using the powder if you don't like the dewy look. Sorry for the lack of blog posts recently as I said last time it's the busiest time of year and finding a decent time to sit and write you a blog post is quite difficult but I have many more dupes of products coming up so keep reading! After my last review about the 'White Out' Halloween contact lenses which I bought and paid for with my own money, MesmerEyez contacted me to see if I'd be interested in trying their natural collection which obviously I jumped at the chance. MesmerEyez sent me 3 Month Topaz Blue Contact Lenses which can be bought here although they are currently sold out they usually retail at £17.99 and you can get them in a 12 month supply for £24.99 which I think is an amazing price. If you read BBC News or watch Watchdog near Halloween you would have read all the terrifying messages that coloured contacts can make you go blind etc, MesmerEyes is actually No.1 Brand in colour changing contact lenses and they hold a legal UK License to sell these while many other brands will not. The first thing I wanted to state was how amazing the delivery was on these contact lenses, I spoke with MesmerEyez on a Sunday night and I received a parcel first thing Tuesday morning they also sent me the MesmerEyez Solution and lenses case which you should buy as your contact lenses need to soak for 6 hours before the first use. The solution retails for £4.99 which is the same price as most other brands and it's most convenient just to add it in your basket when buying the lenses. Whilst wearing these contacts my most popular question I was asked was 'Don't they hurt?' and my answer was No as soon as you put them in you blink a few times and you should be okay, If they carry on hurting you there's something wrong. Here you can see the picture they have on the website vs the actual product, The main thing I like about these are they are a mix of 3 different colours and they have a subtle effect which is why in the picture of myself wearing them you can see a hint of green as my natural eye colour is green. I think the most important thing for 'Natural' colour lenses if that they are supposed to look natural you don't want people noticing you are wearing contacts. I did have a few people notice and just general comments (all good ones) but that's because it made such a difference to my green eyes they looked so much brighter and fresh faced.
On my last post I had a few comments on how to put contact lenses in, after googling many different answers I noticed it all depends on what works for you. I watched a few youtube tutorials which didn't help me at all but I managed to find my own way, as long as you have clean hands and patience you will get it. I will definitely be investing in some brown ones as I love brown eyes and I think they'd suit me. MesmerEyez are the only contact lense company that I'll use and recommend as they have wiped away any worries that I used to have. They've also worked with Vogue, Grazia and London Make-Up Artists all over the world. If its good enough for Vogue it's good enough for me! If you can't take my word for it on these contact lenses all you have to do is read any of the reviews on any colour you want and these are written by people who have bought these contact lenses with their own money and also really like them. Around Halloween everybody decides that they want scary or different colour eyes and although it's actually illegal to sell contact lenses without a prescription many companies do it. I've never been the type to have contact lenses until this year because I have highly sensitive eyes and I'm the person who reads all these horror stories of contact lenses making you go blind if you buy them from the internet. This year I decided I'd try them out after hours of googling and watching youtube tutorials I looked on Amazon and bought 'White Out Lenses' from a company called MesmerEyez the link for the Amazon listing is here. Please note that MesmerEyez have a license to sell contact lenses but many others don't so please do your research about the company you can read about MesmerEyez policy here please know what you are putting in your eyes or just stick to MesmerEyez. I paid extra for delivery so they'd get it here quick and they did, I also invested in a contact lense case from ebay which I won't link as you buy these from eBay for around £2. I know these look really minging and dirty now mainly because I took them out after a night out so they have eye make-up all over them and to be honest there ready for the bin. Please make sure you know how long your contact lenses last for as most 'Halloween' types are 'One Day Only' as these ones are, I only kept them for pictures and this blog review then they'll be in the bin. I actually threw the packaging in the bin but they come in a little box with some solution. I decided that I wanted to buy my own solution and really soak them a few days before wearing them, you can pick up contact solution from most places I got mine from Asda and it was £4 and you got a free lense case not the one pictured here btw. I can't really tell you if this helped that much because I never tried them without this solution but they were really easy to wear and I forgot I even had them in.
Some Tips For Putting Contacts In • Wash and dry your hands thoroughly. • Place eyewear onto the tip of your index finger ensuring that it has a natural bowl like shape, see diagram. • Hold your upper lid open with your other index finger, at the same time hold your lower lid open with the middle finger. Looking straight at your eye in the mirror, slowly and gently place the accessory on your eye. • Carefully release your eyelids and blink. • You can gently massage your eyelid to centre the accessory. • When you are sure that it is correctly inserted, repeat the procedure for the opposite eye. I loved these contacts and I might get some for everyday wear obviously some natural looking ones I'll add some pictures below so you can see what they look like.. I know I know, I haven't blogged in ages and I've kinda forgotten about it because I've had so much stuff going on so I thought as some of you actually read this I'd give you the low down on 'The Life Of Katy' so the first reason I haven't blogged is this is not my job I do not get paid for this, sometimes I get free stuff but I also work. Recently I've gone up to a bigger contract at work which is taking time to get used too and leaves me with less time but more money so hey!
Also I've had to have a blood test recently as I've just not been feeling myself, I've been sleeping loads and just having no concentration but apparently I'm normal, well as normal as I can be and I've been super good and started christmas shopping I've done my boyfriends and he's done mine and I know this because we both agreed we wanted the same thing the new iWatch and I wanted the rose gold one obvs. To be honest I'm so glad his is done it costs me a fortune and takes me so long to find everything so knowing he's done is a load off my mind. If any of you know me personally you'll also know that I met my one true idol which has made my entire life, nobody really gets how much I like this guy mainly because his songs helped me through shit times and made the good times even better, so yes I met Olly Murs and I was terrified and acted like a shy 6 year old but I still did it! I will be back to blogging as soon as I can I just need to build a new timetable and let me know what'd you'd like to read about. I was contacted by the Internet Giftstore to try out something from there website and to give you guys a honest review and what better time to do so with Christmas around the corner. The first thing I noticed on the website was the amount of categories they literally have everything they cover all sorts of brands such as Disney, Ted Baker, Star Wars, Yankee Candles and Minions. This sort of website is perfect if you'd like to do all your Christmas shopping in one hit without having loads of different parcels from different companies. The sample I received I've loved, Infact I haven't even used it as I really don't want to ruin how beautiful it is. I went for a Ted Baker Notebook and its all worked out great since I have a new job which is partly why I haven't used it. I know the pictures aren't the best but its rater hard to photograph as the writing is like a rose gold colour. I'm going to use this beautiful notebook for my new job and it arrived at a perfect time as I was going to buy one which wouldn't have been half as nice as this. I'll probably replace the pen for a pencil and that was the only thing that let it down for me a beautiful notebook with a pencil? But I have noticed all the other on Internet Giftstore now come with Ted Baker pens. Another thing I like about this book is the cover and the back are really tough it's a proper hardback which I like as I throw everything in my bag and I don't really want a Ted Baker notebook getting bent and ruinned. If you'd like to purchase this actual notebook then click here.
They do have a clearance section online which is 80% off and it is updated regularly. If you are interested in getting yourself one of these and maybe starting your Christmas shopping they have Free UK Delivery on orders over £35 and they have a 'No nonsense money back gurantee' so what are you waiting for? Head over to internetgiftstore.com and grab yourself a bargain. I've decided to pick some things off the Internet Giftstore that I'd like for Christmas.. 1. I always struggle with going on holiday because I insist on taking everything I possibly own from my bathroom and bedroom, but with only having 15kg that was not possible so I decided I'd need to get some travel mini's and to be honest I didn't I didn't know where to start. I'm a massive fan of the Lee Stafford Hair Growth range and although the bottles are small I didn't fancy taking my whole collection with me, so after looking at the same section of Boots for about half an hour I picked up these Charles Worthington Sunshine Protector Shampoo and Conditioner. I really liked the packaging of these products the bottles are a unusual shape but it kinda works and makes them feel rather expensive (they're not) I can't actually remember the price I think it was around the £3 but it was 3 for 2 on all travel mini's so I could be wrong. I did really like this shampoo and it lathered up really well but it's not a shampoo I'd pick up after the Lee Stafford collection bores me it was a decent enough shampoo for my holiday but I think full size bottle's of these would be a lot more expensive for a shampoo and conditioner which for me didn't work miracles. My hair tends to get really dry on holiday and just in heat so I definitely need the sunshine protect after conditioning I would automatically use my coconut oil from Inecto which I have done a review for here. Sorry for the lack of blogposts I seem to be using up old products and trying to not spend my entire wages on make-up and pretty products but I do feel like a nice sit down catch up blogpost so keep your eyes peeled, make sure you follow my brand new facebook page over at facebook.com/drugstorejunkie I'm doing a MAC lipstick giveaway of your choice. Follow me at bloglovin to keep up-to date with all my new posts - https://www.bloglovin.com/blogs/drugstore-junkie-blog-13992724 Thanks for reading! Going on holiday means one thing duty free! Whilst at the airport in Luton I checked out the Mac counter as I was debating between 'Whirl' and 'Velvet Teddy' after doing the typical swatching I decided that 'Whirl' had won me over a bit more as it was darker and you know after my love for Mac 'Stone' that I prefer darker shades but at Luton they had none. I left disappointed but coming back from my holiday I visited a small little Mac counter at Palma de Mallorca and they had 'Whirl' so I had to have it and it was only £13 so a slight saving! I can already tell this is going to be my new everyday shade, I still love Mac 'Stone' but it is more of an evening lipstick because it's very dark. It's a very pink, mauve shade with a hint of brown which I love and obviously it Matte which means it lasts so much longer, I'm not sure if the formula is different but after wearing this for a few days I find it more moisturising than 'Stone' and I'm not sure why. It's such a nice nude shade and I think it's one which will suit most skin tones.
Did I mention I love it? Do you want to get 'Whirl' for free? All you have to do is 'like' my facebook page over at https://www.facebook.com/drugstorejunkie and as soon as we hit 300 likes I will be running a competition to win a Mac lipstick of YOUR choice, simple really and anybody can win! Today I'm going to be talking about the two books I read and finished before my holiday even finished (This may contain spoilers) I loved both of these books and the fact that they are both now films is even better. First of all Gone Girl, I started reading this and found it really confusing so I restarted it and I was hooked I could not put it down but I didn't want to finish it. Nick Dunne is one of the main characters and he is just an average type of guy with what you think is an average wife Amy, Amy then goes missing and fingers all get pointed to him as blood is found in his house and she has a diary written about all the abuse he put her through. It's such a clever book and I think Gillian Flynn thought up such a brilliant idea and got everything perfect. Out of the two I preferred this book as soon as I got back from my holiday I decided I had to see the film and it was only £5 from Morrisons bargain! Anyway do not watch this film with your parents there is a lot of disturbing scenes and sex scenes I mean if your parents are cool then go for it but just a warning. I couldn't rate this book any higher if I tried it's definitely a good mystery messed up love story. I really wish I could tell you the whole story but I don't want to ruin it, Also another bonus with this book was that when I finished it had the first chapter of another one of Gillian's books 'Dark Places' which I think I'll pick up when I see it. Now on to Paper Towns, I don't know if it was just me but I just didn't get it, I only picked up this book because I've read probably like everybody else 'The Fault In Our Stars' which was amazing and I'd read that on a previous holiday but this book was just pointless it was about a girl that had gone missing left loads of clues but never really wanted to be found. It has a lot to do with poetry so I'm not sure if I'm missing something? I think when I see the film it will make a lot more sense as I just don't quite understand it very well, although I might give it another go or read some peoples theories to see if they understood it. I'm sorry about the rubbish review on this I just didn't understand it, help?! Anyway if you haven't guessed I'm back off holiday and I will be back to regular blogging as I have missed it.
